Many many thanks to Kat&Lulu of bitches-bizarre.de resp. shin-online.de for giving me the permission to use this interview with Luminor, Shin and Kiro for my Luminor fansite!  On February 6, 2008, we got the chance to have a conversation with Shin and Luminor in Nuremberg on the occasion of the Special Fantour. Later on, Kiro came to join us. At this point we would like to thank those three, as well as Eric and Peddy with all our <3. Enjoy! LuKaKat: You've been on tour for the very first time for one week now. What do you think of your first concert in Vienna, who of you was most excited? Luminor: Well, I think Kiro was really excited... Shin: Kiro is always extremely excited... Luminor: So is Strify... *looks at Shin* Shin: So is Strify... Luminor: Yu... Shin: Yu was okay... Luminor: You? Not really, hm? Shin: So-so... Luminor: Yes, actually, I was so-so as well. Kat: And how was it to play live for the first time? Luminor: Yeah, it was good, only a bit stressful at the beginning, because we got to Vienna so late that we couldn't do a sound check. But given that we had to go on stage pretty much unprepared, it went quite well. Lulu: What are the last few minutes before you go on stage like? Shin: *laughs* Very quiet! Lulu: No ritual? Luminor: Well, we hug each other shortly before, the last minutes are rather annoying though, you spend your time in waiting and it's long and it's tedious. Lulu: How do you like living on the tour bus? Is there something that bothers or annoys you and that you would like to change? Luminor: Uhm, if I had it my way, I'd initiate that we had a hotel every night. Kat: So, it's not that cool on the bus? Luminor: Well, what is cool anyhow, we have a very good bus, there's nothing to complain about, but it's a bus after all. It's very cramped and there's always someone around, you can't really disperse your belongings... Shin: Because the roof is so low...and when you stand up, everybody stands up. And then the whole corridor is crowded and you can't get out anymore. Or you sit in front of your suitcase and they go "can I just pass?". *Shin explains it all very nicely through gestures, waving about and sighing* Luminor: Yeah, especially when you're as tall as he and I *everybody laughs* Because it's all so low!!! Shin: You have to duck whenever you walk around! *again we refer to Shin's wonderful body language!* Luminor: Having a hotel and being able to close the door behind you at least now and then would be an ideal conception. Kat: More privacy then... Luminor: Yeah... Lulu: What's the best moment on stage? Shin: The last song, isn't it? Kat: Finally it's over, or what? Luminor: No, not that, but it happens to be during the last song...we always have high expectations towards ourselves, we want to be really good, nothing with playing pocket pool and stuff. Actually, being on stage is always nice, the whole day before a show is mostly rather annoying, but it comes to a climax [when they go on stage]. Kat: Let's talk about your appearance in Cannes. Did you get to decide on your own how you'd pose on the red carpet? Luminor: Absolutely, yes! If I'm allowed to make a brief comment about it, it's a heavily debated issue, we noticed so much grins, anyway, one fan wrote Actually, it wasn't bad at all and another said Oh yeah, you don't think it's bad when they're not what they really are?. That's when I thought Okay, girl, welcome to reality, that's what we are! We did, indeed, pull the strings. Kat: What's the meaning of the owl and the dog? Shin: I do love the night, you most definitely read the article in YAM. And I decided to take an owl, I considder it a very fascinating animal. Kat: Okay, since Yu is not around we cannot discuss the dog-issue. But Luminor, was that your grandma? *everybody laughs* Luminor: No. Kat + Lulu: That's what it said! Luminor: Where? Kat: Underneath a picture. Luminor: No, that's rubbish. That was a French lady and an allusion to my clips, the ones with the lift. And the two of us together made a pretty bizarre couple, that was basically the idea of it all. That was neither my mother nor my grandma. It wasn't my girlfriend either, by the way! Kat: We figured so much. Kat: What would you do if you could be a woman for 24 hours? Shin: That's something I don't think about. Luminor: Exactly, I live out everything I want anyway and I don't care if it's male or famale. Lulu: Do you read fan fiction? What do you think of it? Luminor: I'd love to read them through properly one day, they're too long for me to read through, though. To be honest, I didn't even get to read one of them through yet. Shin: I once read two or three before I went to sleep. They were funny to some extent. Lulu: Well then... Shin: Not the kinky kind though. Lulu: Don't need to be afraid then. Lulu: Describe a 'normal' day in your life, when you don't have any appointments and so on that is. Shin: Do we have 'normal' days? Kat: Don't you ever have time [for yourselves]? Shin: When we have time, we sleep! Luminor: Hardly ever. Well, whenever I don't have anything to do at all, I maintain contacts, simply private stuff. That's very important. Lulu: What would you do if you had only one day left to live? Luminor: I'd say try to see the people I love. Kat: Will there be another single after Forever Or Never? Luminor: We're not sure yet, but it's quite possible. The album has many songs to offer that are qualified for it, after all. Kat: Is there a particular reason why you don't play The Silent Place on this tour? Luminor: No, it's just that it's a small tour, a special fan tour, that's why we did not kick off with the whole album. We want to keep something in reserve for the big tour. Kat: Which brings us to the next question. What's gonna be different for the tour in April? Luminor: There will be a completely different setting. We intentionally chose small clubs in order to make it all more intimate and allow the fans more access. This won't be possible anymore once we're on the big international tour. *Shin makes a quick disappearance* Kat: As a fan you always have a certain idea of the roles the band members play. So, what's the role allocation within your band? Luminor: We don't have a role allocation. Kat: You're like friends then? Luminor: Well, there's no command structure or role allocation. There are people who are more chaotic and others who like it neat and tidy, but everything evens out. *Shin's back* Kat: Do you get on each other's nerves sometimes? Luminor: Hm, not that I know of. Shin: We've never been at odds with each other so far. Lulu: Your lyrics inclube passages such as "all we need is fantasy" or "all that we need is to believe" and thus give the impression that there's a chance to dream all the bad away. Do you believe in this resp. how do you feel about this? Luminor: Depends on how you interpret it. Being able to dream everything away would be great. I myself can't do it at all. It's more about actively changing things by mere imagination or fantasy. Purely dreaming it all ways – fine, there are people who can do it – I can't. *Kiro comes along and joins in XD* Kat: Kiro, the pictures from Cannes. You and those two models – we think they were models... Kiro: Nay, they aren't models. Kat: Okay, friends then. You kissed them by all means, was that some kind of outing? Kiro: It's been a lot of pleasure. Kat: So, just for fun, or what? Kiro: Well, I was up to it, they were up to it, why not? Kat: Yes, I don't think it's bad, I think it was great! Kiro: Me too! Lulu: Your rather contained personality makes one draw parallels to Shinya. Is this your intention? Shin: No. Kat: Well, in the last few days we got to find out that you're not that contained after all. Shin: When there are cameras everywhere I think just don't say too much! Luminor: It's rather that you feel a kind of spiritual kinship to him, isn't it? You don't copy it, it's just there. Shin: Don't know.. Luminor: I think so. At least that's how I take it. Lulu: Luminor, you listen to Lacrimosa. How does it feel to work with Tilo? Luminor: It feels good. He's got a huge creative influence on the band, he's been in this business for so long, he gets done a lot musical-wise which, needless to say, is a great help. Lulu: Kiro, do you sometimes feel discriminated (by Strify *gg*) due to your height? Kiro: Nein, not everything is small! Smass but powerful! *everybody laughs* We have some 'either...or...' questions left (please don't take them too seriously!) Luminor: France or Germany? No comment. Red wine or white wine? White wine. Kiro: Cigarettes or alcohol? That's really mean! Alcohol then, if I have to I'd say alcohol. Eric or Tilo? I can't decice, things don't work without either of them. Shin: *Due to the silly questions we have a laughing fit to begin with* Shin: Here we go! No comment! Sausage or green cabbage? Sausage! Hug a tree or dance a name? WHAT? Hug a tree or dance a name? Neither... Luminor: Were you drunk when you wrote these questions down? Kat + Lulu: NO! Actually, it all started with Yu's bulletin, he wanted to know if anybody can dance their name. Yeah, and that's how we hit on the fact that Shin is most definitely the only one who could dance his name. *laughter* *A camera team of Franken-TV comes along and they ask if they're allowed to film a bit, that's how we got to ask some impromptu questions which we rather don't write down here. The following was interesting though:* Kat: Doesn't all the shrieking annoy you? Shin: Nope, aside from during Silent Scream! That's when Strify always says Okay, please don't scream now, Silent Scream is up next! and they all start screaming! *at this point we have to refer once again to Shin's wonderful gesture *lol* it's too funny!* Luminor: It's generally a reaction we get by the audience and that's nice. It would be awful if they all stood there in silence. Kiro: It's a feedback basically. Kat: Yes, it's just rather annoying to be right in the middle of it all and not being able to hear the music played on stage. Luminor: We'll try to be as loud as possible! Kat: Thanks, that's great. |
